Bahrain – Saudi Arabia pipeline en route
Tue, 25 May 2010
The design and route of a new pipeline, which will deliver crude oil from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, will be completed later this year, Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza has told local media.
Dr Mirza said that the $US350 million project will ensure that the Bahrain Petroleum Company refinery in Sitra is supplied with approximately 350,000 bbl/d of oil.
“The 114 km pipeline will use a safer route that avoids going through inhabited areas and will also use state-of-the-art technology,” said Dr Mirza.
The project is being undertaken to replace an existing pipeline and increase transmission capacity between the two countries.
