GE Oil and Gas’ surface and subsea production equipment, control systems and services have been selected for the Nexen Golden Eagle Area Development project in the United Kingdom’s central North Sea, which involves pipeline infrastructure.
Regulation round-up
In the United States, a New Jersey pipeline safety programme has received approximately $US1 million funding, and a number of pipeline safety bills have been signed by the Californian Governor, in a major step toward preventing pipeline failures such as the San Bruno incident. Meanwhile, the Australian pipeline industry is working to expand its pipeline standard, and DNV has established its second pipeline technical committee in China.QSN 3 – overcoming challenges in loops and bounds
Since June 2010, Nacap has been constructing the QSN 3 Project, a 938.5 km, 450 mm diameter pipeline from Wallumbilla in southeast Queensland to Moomba in South Australia. As the project nears completion, Nacap reflects on the challenges it has overcome to deliver this major Australian pipeline looping project.

Pipeline convention down under

FID for Queensland Curtis LNG

BG Group has made a final investment decision (FID) to approve the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Project, which comprises an $US7.9 billion onshore coal seam gas (CSG)-to-LNG production and export facility and a 380 km pipeline from QGC’s Surat Basin tenements to a port site, to be located on Curtis Island in Queensland, Australia.
