The High Level Clearance Committee of the Karnataka Government has given approval for the pipeline project and the Government of Karnataka has nominated Karnataka State Industrial Investment Development Corporation (KSIIDC) to facilitate the acquisition of land for the project.
GAIL Chairman and Managing Director B C Tripathi told the Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa and other senior officials of the Karnataka Government that the tendering process for pipeline procurement will begin soon.
Requiring total investment of $US981 million, the 1,389 km long, 30 inch diameter Dabhol – Bangalore pipeline has a planned gas capacity of 16 MMcm/d.
The pipeline will be constructed in two phases.
Article continues below…In Part A of Phase I, 402 km of pipeline will be laid from Dabhol to Gokak, along with spur lines to Belgaum and Goa. This section is scheduled for completion by 2011–12. Part B of the first phase is scheduled for completion in 2012 and will see 570 km of pipeline laid from Gokak to Bangalore.
In Phase II of the project, 417 km of spur and feeder lines will be laid to Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Sangali, Bijapur, Dharwad, Devangere, Harihar and Tumkur. This phase is expected to be completed between 2012 and 2014.
