FERC launches Washington – Greene Pipeline consultation
Wed, 3 March 2010
The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting to accept comments and review the environmental impacts of a $US53 million natural gas pipeline project proposal in Washington and Greene counties, Pennsylvania.
National Fuel Gas Company’s Pipeline and Storage has proposed to replace and relocate a natural gas pipeline running through to two counties. The purpose of the project is to provide transportation for new Marcellus gas production along the pipeline north of the replacement to Texas Eastern Transmission Company’s pipelines at the south end of the relocation.
The proposed project includes the construction of a 30.5 km, 20 inch pipeline, which will be built in two segments as well as a new compressor station to be located at the north end of the relocated pipeline, in Buffalo Township.
Subject to FERC approval, construction is scheduled to commence mid-2011, with a targeted completion date of late 2011.
