Expansion works include the construction of a gas turbine-driven compressor unit, a compressor building, pipeline and process connections, and the utility systems required for the new compressor unit.
Installation of the new compressor unit at the existing facility is expected to be completed in 2011.
The 1,119 km Gulf Stream Natural Gas System Pipeline has a 25 km gathering system, which draws from the Destin Pipeline and various other plants in Mississippi and terminates at Compressor Station 410 in Coden, Mobile County, Alabama. Once compressed to a maximum pressure of 15 MPa, gas flows into the offshore pipeline, which crosses the Gulf of Mexico and comes onshore in Manatee County, Florida before extending across the state. It has a capacity 1.26 Bcf/d.
Gulf Stream Natural Gas System LLC is a joint venture between Williams and Spectra Energy.
