According to Israeli news sources, the injunction will allow time for negotiations between the Druze land owners, who lodged the petition for an injunction, and all the bodies involved in the pipeline project, including the Prime Minister’s Office and the construction company Israel Gas Lines Ltd.

The sources stated that court will hold another hearing on the case on 12 July 2010.

Israel Natural Gas Lines Ltd commenced construction on the pipeline earlier this year after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered that work begin on the laying the pipeline to Haifa by the end of January 2010.

The pipeline crosses land owned by the country’s Arabic-speaking Druze community, which is officially recognised as a separate religious entity with its own courts and spiritual leadership.
