The new spur lines, totalling more than 70 km in length, will be installed in approximately 70 m of water to connect the export pipeline to the Platong 2 and Great Bongkot South production platforms.
The two platforms are now under construction at J Ray McDermott’s Batam yard and South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries.
Thailand will receive gas from the projects via PTTEP’s third transmission pipeline from the middle of next year.
Production at Platong 2 and Great Bongkot South is planned for start-up in mid 2011 and mid 2012, respectively, with anticipated exports of over 700 MMcf/a of gas to Thailand.
