The theme of the conference, to be held in the Canadian city of Calgary from 27 September until 1 October, is ‘Pipelines in a Changing World’. The focus will be on issues challenging the pipeline industry, and strategies to deal with them.

Trans-Northern Pipelines President and CEO Al Conquergood, and Ash Sahi, President and CEO of the Canadian Standards Association, will co-chair the event, and it is expected that 1,200 members of the international pipeline industry will attend.

Keynote speakers include André Plourde, from the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta; Chief Engineer, Pipeline and Civil, BP Explorations (UK) Ian Neilson; Common Ground Alliance US President Bob Kipp; and Enhance Energy President Susan Cole.

The conference will also feature 350 technical papers from 40 different countries, as well as panels and tutorials. As in previous years, the IPC will be running the ASME Student Paper Competition, and the Rio Pipeline Award will be presented to the best paper from the conference.

In addition, a Pipeline Exposition will be held on 28–30 September, at which companies from around the world will display the latest in pipeline technology, equipment and services.
