The Validation Centre (TVC) has released the Arc Logger Ten II (ALXII), a new system of welding data logging equipment. The system monitors all the main welding parameters and generates reports without the need for external computers.

The ALXII has been designed for use with multi-torch welding bug-and-band welding systems and is capable of monitoring pulsed and STT-type welding processes. It is available as a single channel, battery-powered portable unit, and can also be used as a multichannel workstation allowing up to eight welding torches to be monitored by a single operator.

The pipeline software allows the welding engineers and inspectors to pre-programme all welding information for an entire weld from root to cap. The system then selects the correct parameters for the required pass and applies these to the monitored parameters.

It also features USB connections and a network connector for internet connection, allowing reports to be emailed directly from the welding station.

Trencher Fang claws through trenches

The Trencher Fang, designed by World Construction Solutions, is designed to give excavators and backhoes trench digging capabilities. It can be attached to any size machine and is able to dig at up to 3 metres per minute in a range of soil conditions, including hard, wet, rocky and clay-type soils.

The Fang is manufactured from A50 and A400 steels, and features a tall curved shape that increases the dig force. The reinforced bottom area is designed to remove large rocks and facilitates the trenching of tight-radius turns.

The equipment can be mounted in two directions, letting the operator dig forward within inches of vertical structures. With a long reach, the Fang can trench into steep slopes and riverbanks, and maintain depth grade through hills.

Ditch Witch releases new directional drill

Ditch Witch has recently developed the JT100 all terrain directional drill, a machine designed for extended-range bores and the installation of large-diameter pipe. It features 445 kN of pullback and 16,270 Nm of torque, as well as a 200 kW engine. The patented two-pipe drilling system allows the installation of pipe in most ground formations, including solid rock.

The dual-pivot frame is designed to allow steeper entry angles without raising the tracks, while the machine automatically adjusts carriage thrust speed with rotation when making-up and breaking-out drill pipe. There is also the option of attaching an onboard crane that can be used to load and unload pipe boxes, anchor the unit, and handle downhole tools.

TDW brings Stopple services to Europe

The Stopple Train intervention system developed by TD Williamson (TDW) has been successfully used for the first time in Europe, with the company now poised to expand this service throughout the region.

The Stopple Train system allows pipelines to be cut and plugged without requiring a system shutdown. It features a double-block and bleed design that makes it possible to insert two plugging heads through a single fitting. The void between the two plugging heads can be bled down to provide a ‘zero energy’ zone. The sealing element on the secondary plugging head provides double block features at pressures ranging from 0–6,894 kPa.
