The Interconnector Turkey – Greece – Italy (ITGI) pipeline system includes the 296 km, 36 inch diameter Interconnector Turkey – Greece pipeline, operational since 2007, and the planned Interconnector Greece – Italy pipeline. This will include the 200 km offshore IGI Poseidon pipeline across the Ionian Sea, and the 600 km IGI Onshore pipeline in Greek territory.

The ITGI system could be operational as early as 2013, meeting the timeline demanded by the Shah Deniz Stage 2 full field development.

The ITGI system will have a capacity of 10 Bcm/a of gas, matching the volumes that will be available from the Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz II field. The ITGI system can be scaled up to a capacity of 24 Bcm/a as additional gas becomes available.

DEPA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Harry Sachinis said the ITGI system “will accelerate the development of the Southern Gas Corridor, increasing European energy security by providing alternative sources of imported gas”.
