Gazprom Management Committee Deputy Chairman Alexander Medvedev and Romanian Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Environment Adriean Videanu have met in Bucharest, Romania, to discuss Romania’s participation in the South Stream Pipeline project.
The Romanian party confirmed its interest in participating in the South Stream project and provided the Russian party with the data required to prepare a feasibility study for a possible pipeline route across Romania.
During the meeting prospects for a partnership with Romania’s Transgaz in developing the onshore section of the South Stream Pipeline through Romanian territory were discussed.
In order to construct the onshore section abroad, Russia has made intergovernmental agreements with Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Greece and Slovenia. A similar intergovernmental agreement is to be signed with Austria.
With a capacity of 63 Bcm/a, the South Stream Pipeline will deliver gas from Russia and Central Asia to Europe via the Black Sea.
