Telvent’s OASyS information management infrastructure, which is already in use in some sections of PetroChina’s pipeline network, will be added to three lateral pipelines where it will play a role in sustaining the secure transport of PetroChina’s crude oil and natural gas to growing Chinese markets.
Under the three new contracts, with a combined value of more than $US3 million, Telvent supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology will be installed along the Hui-Yin Crude Oil Pipeline and the Qin-Shen Natural Gas Pipeline, both located in northern China, and the Mo-Da Crude Oil Pipeline, which links the Russian border with Daqing in northeast China. These new pipeline segments will extend PetroChina’s existing pipeline network by more than 1,600 km.
The control and information management systems supplied by Telvent for these extensions will provide control and monitoring in real-time and integrate operations with the network’s main control centre.
Meanwhile, PetroChina has begun construction of five underground natural gas storage tanks along the route of its Second West East pipeline, according to local news sources.
