The expansion project will see the capacity of the 1,580 km Tengiz – Novorossiysk pipeline, which runs from Kazakhstan to Russia's Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, increased from 32.5 MMt/a to 67 MMt/a by 2014.

The project, approved by shareholders in December, includes the replacement of an 88 km long section of pipeline in Kazakhstan, construction of ten additional pump stations – two in Kazakhstan and eight in Russia – six crude oil tanks near Novorossiysk, and a third single point mooring at the CPC marine terminal.

More than 209 MMt of CPC blend oil has been exported from the marine terminal near Novorossiysk since the pipeline was commissioned in October 2001.
