The Ugandan Government has announced plans to build an oil refinery and export pipeline to monetise the estimated 2 Bbbl of oil resources discovered on the Ugandan side of the Lake Albert Basin.
Uganda’s National Planning Authority announced the pipeline investment as part of its 5-year plan to develop the Ugandan economy.

Earlier this month, Reuters reported that the Ugandan Minister for Energy Simon D’Ujanga stated that Uganda will stop importing petroleum when the oil refinery it is planning to build becomes operational in 2015.
