One of Europe’s largest pipeline conferences has appointed a new Chairman of its Advisory Committee (AdCo).

The Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) has announced that Heinz Watzka, the former Managing Director Technical Services of Open Grid Europe, will take over from Dr Klaus Ritter.

Mr Watzka has been a member of the AdCo for six years and has always been involved in the technical content of the event.

Dr Ritter, the President of the EITEP Institute, has held the role since the first ptc took place in 2006.

ptc will be held on 2-4 May at the Estrel Convention Centre, Berlin, and is expected to feature more than 80 guest speakers with more than 400 people in attendance.

The list of main topics to be covered includes planning and design, route analysis and selection, fibre-optic sensing, and LNG vs pipelines.

Presentation topics at the conference include operation and maintenance (onshore and offshore), planning and construction (onshore and offshore) and special issues.
