Program released for UPSF 2017
The program for the Unpiggable Pipeline Solutions Forum (UPSF), taking place 14-15 June in Houston, Texas, is now available to be viewed online.
UPSF will explore different approaches for the internal inspection of difficult to inspect pipelines, including pre-inspection cleaning and project management, crossover technologies, robotic inspection technology, difficult inspection projects, and new tools, technologies and applications.

The program includes discussion on the importance of using and understanding expected damage mechanisms to determine the suitable inspection technology and methodology.
There will be a focus on each inspection methodology’s ability to successfully detect damage at specific pipeline locations.
The event will also look at the development of a robotic system for the trenchless inspection of cased pipelines will allow for the real-time visual assessment of casing and pipe conditions while minimising costs and service disruptions.
The images provided by the Pipe Inspection Robot can be used by operators as a pre-excavation inspection or an alternative to excavation.
Another point of focus will be the in-line inspection of pipeline segments.
This method is often favoured as it delivers feature specific information; however, for pipelines lacking launcher and receiver facilities this has not been feasible.
A new approach, using Baker Hughes’ Tri-Axial MFL technology, has resulted in the effective tethered inspection of several pipelines.
