Weir Oil & Gas acquires KOP surface products

Upstream service provider Weir Oil & Gas has completed its acquisition of KOP Surface Products for an enterprise value of US$114 million.

The acquisition of KOP Surface Products is part of Weir’s commitment to expansion in the Asia Pacific; KOP has a strong market position in Southeast Asia, and an emerging market in the Middle East.

Weir will be able to employ KOP’s advanced pressure control wellhead technologies, surface trees, valves, actuators and aftermarket services.

The current management team will continue to lead the business – including at KOP’s Singapore headquarters, Indonesian manufacturing facility, and sales and services offices in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and India.

KOP Surface Products Chief Executive Gordon Cameron will also stay on in his current role, and will report to Weir Oil & Gas President Paul Coppinger.

“Since opening the first wellhead manufacturing facility in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone a short while ago, we have continued to expand our global reach by supporting our customers, no matter where the job takes them,” said Mr Coppinger.

“Our ability to manufacture products nearby is only part of the equation.

“We must continue to support customers through the service and products we provide.

“Acquiring KOP underlines that commitment and strengthens our promise to operators in this vital region.”

Speaking on the acquisition Mr Cameron said, “From a technology, service and talent standpoint, this is an excellent fit and we look forward to our future together as a combined organisation,”

“We see this as a substantial opportunity to offer more to our customers and prospects in the region. No doubt, we are stronger together.”
