The conference plenary sessions will follow four themes:
- Technical challenges for the next decade
- Brazil’s midstream sector
- Transportation activity in Brazil’s offshore production
- The role of regulators in future pipeline activity
The event will also feature forums that will cover a variety of topical issues, including:
- Current and future applications and restrictions for drone technology in the industry
- The minimum technical requirements for the supply of forged steel for pipeline and submarine equipment
- Challenges and opportunities regards stress corrosion cracking mechanisms in pipelines
On Thursday 26 October, there will also be workshops on the integrity of natural gas distribution pipelines.
The discussion will focus on technical recommendations and case studies relating to the cathodic protection and mitigation of electric interference, external interference, the applicability of the Regulatory Standard NR-13, and integrity management of natural gas distribution pipelines.
Two awards will be presented at the conference: the Calgary Award and the Global Pipeline Award.
The Calgary Award is awarded to the best technical paper submitted to the conference, and will be included in the program for the next International Pipeline Conference (IPC) held in Calgary, Canada.
Rio Pipeline will sponsor the travel and accommodation costs for one of the authors to present the paper at the next IPC.
The Global Pipeline Award is granted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers to recognise the innovation and technological advancement by organisations in pipeline transportation.
